Pastoral Intro
Whether you received “the sex talk”, also known as “the birds and the bees” conversation, from parents who lovingly discipled you, or through an awkward, cringey conversation you’d rather forget… or maybe you never received it at all and had to piece things together from things you overheard from immature kids in the back of a school bus… wherever you’re coming from, I want you to know something: it is a genuine privilege and honor to speak with you on this topic.
I’m very aware that for many people, there may be real pain tied to poor parenting, or even the absence of good, intentional parenting altogether, when it comes to this subject. If that’s the case for you, I would take a moment and choose to forgive your parent(s) or guardian(s), who hurt you intentionally or unintentionally. Today is a new day of growth to put the pain of the past behind you in Jesus’ name and forgive the mistakes that were done to you.
This content should have been passed down to you about God’s creative design through intentional, caring, and loving guidance. But even if that didn’t happen for you, you’re not overlooked. You’re not behind. There’s no shame or judgment here, and you’re not disqualified from understanding the WHY behind God’s genius creativity.
- “When my father and mother forsake me, then the LORD will take care of me.” – Psalm 27:10
Types & Shadows
What if the sex talk you received was only surface-level? What if our culture only knows how to engage with the types and shadows, but lacks clarity on what the shadows are actually trying to reveal?
What if sexual intercourse between a godly, covenant-bound husband and wife is not merely a physical act, but speaks to something profoundly prophetic?
From the very beginning, God designed this with intention, meaning, and profound revelation woven into it, not as something dark or shameful, but as something good and honorable that ultimately points to the gospel and the Person of Jesus. (That in EVERYTHING, even the sex talk, Jesus is preeminent (Colossians 1:18).
- “Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled;” – Hebrews 13:4
What you were taught growing up most likely only scratched the surface, and likely missed the deeper spiritual reality and the true purpose behind WHY God designed husbands and wives to relate to one another in this pleasurably unique way.

Human Anatomy & The Glory of God
Let’s start out with a few foundational verses and insights that will be helpful for us to understand as we get into the topic.
Don’t worry, this is the only photo in this article. 😅

A human being is created with two lungs that are equally filled with the same breath-like substance. The two oxygen-filled lungs are symbolic of the Father and the Son, filled with the breath of God, the Holy Spirit. One lung in particular is seated at the right hand of the other and is the express image of the one on the left. Also, it just so happens that seated around your two lungs are twenty-four white ribs. In the center, the sternum makes the shape of a cross as well.
- Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and seated on the thrones were twenty-four elders, clothed in white garments, with golden crowns on their heads. – Revelation 4:4 –
- He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of His nature, and He upholds the universe by the word of His power. After making purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. – Hebrews 1:3

The Life-Giving Seed
So continuing the conversation, we have to understand that the physical reality is often just a type and shadow representing the spiritual substance or reality. Or, in other words, the physical aspect of sexual intercourse is like a parable that needs to be interpreted through a biblical lens.
So we know that male sperm is seed, and the seed is life-giving. It’s also contained in the center of the male anatomy.
These verses highlight Jesus as God’s Son, God’s Offspring, or God’s Seed.
- He spilled his seed on the ground [to prevent conception], – Genesis 38:9 (AMP)
- Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “And to your Seed,” who is Christ. – Galatians 3:16
- The Seed is the Word of God. – Luke 8:11
- John 1:1 – In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
Who’s at the center of everything in God’s Kingdom? Jesus.
Who’s at the center of the Body of Christ? Jesus.
Therefore, in our “parable” here, Jesus represents the life-giving seed in the center of the body.
Prophetic Design
The way God created the male testes, there are two testicles that both contain life-giving seed. In our “parable” here, these two testicles represent the Father and the Holy Spirit, who are filled with The Life-Giving Seed (Jesus).
- “Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me?” – John 14:10 (Jesus speaking)
- “For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them, even so the Son gives life to whom He will.” – John 5:21 (Jesus speaking)
Remember those lungs? It’s absolutely amazing that we can see the same genius design pattern here that is similar to the human lungs!
So when a husband sows his seed into his wife, the seed produces new life in her.
When the Bride of Christ joyfully and pleasurably receives Jesus, The Seed, she becomes a new creation, and new life is formed in her.
- Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. – 2 Corinthians 5:17
So when a married man has sexual intercourse with his wife:
- With his covenant bride on his mind, and with great love and pleasure, he sends forth his seed, sows it in her, to produce new life.
- God, with the covenant Bride on His mind, and with great love and pleasure, sends forth His Seed, sows it in Her, to produce new life.
- For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. – John 3:16
- To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery
among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. – Colossians 1:27
Jesus is sent forth from the Father and conceived by the Holy Spirit.
- In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. – 1 John 4:10
The Bride, with her Lord on her mind, and with great love and pleasure, receives His Seed. New life is then formed inside the Bride.
After she receives the seed, another spirit (the baby) is sent forth from God to dwell inside her.
- As you do not know the way the spirit comes to the bones in the womb of a woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything. – Ecclesiastes 11:5 ESV
After a person receives Jesus, another Spirit (The Holy Spirit) is sent forth from God to dwell inside that person. 🤯
- But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. – Romans 8:11
- The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, – Romans 8:16
I don’t know about you, but I personally find it so fascinating that Jesus has never had sexual intercourse for the entirety of His life, and never will. Consider this and the reason why this is the case:
- “I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” – Matthew 3:11 (John the baptist speaking)
John the baptist did the physical work of baptism, and Jesus does the spiritual work of baptism. God’s word is telling us that Jesus has come to fulfill the spiritual substance of all the types and shadows.
Final Thoughts
Two-thousand some years ago, when Jesus’ body was lying in a tomb, God sent forth His Seed from heaven and raised Jesus from the grave.
That’s so true… but what does that have to do with our “parable”?
Generally speaking, a healthy male, about every 3 days, feels the need to release his seed. It just so happens that God sent forth His Seed to be joyfully received by the Bride on none other than… the 3rd day. 🤯
- Genesis 1:11 – Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so. 12 And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 13 So the evening and the morning were the third day.
This content needs to be received with maturity and wisdom, for nothing written here is for the purpose of justifying sin or sinful actions in any way, but instead is meant to gird up your mind against the enemy’s perverse tactics that are trying to distort God’s intended design for your life. May you walk in holiness and stay true to the Lord. If you’ve sinned sexually in any way outside of God’s perfect design, repent and turn away from all your sin, and trust in Jesus’ work for you on the cross. Total forgiveness is a free gift to you and me, who, unfortunately, have sinned greatly. But here’s the good news: though we’ve sinned greatly, we’re paid for in full and only because of the bloodshed of Jesus applied to our lives by faith (not our good works), we’re destined for paradise for eternity! God bless you all.
