John 10:10 – “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
​Context = Pharisees are turning people away from Jesus
​John 9:24 – So for the second time they called the man who had been blind and said to him, “Give glory to God. We know that this Man is a sinner.”
​John 9:34 They answered him, “You were born in utter sin, and would you teach us?” And they cast him out.
John 10:1 – “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber.
​Jesus likens the pharisees to thieves who are trying to manipulate the people into believing that Jesus is a false prophet. Therefore by trying to “steal” people away from the Lord it causes death and destruction. The teachersof religious law are following their father, the devil, and are stealing, killing, and destroying the Jewish people.
​John 8:44 – “You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the Truth, because there is no truth in him.”
