Galatians 5:4 – You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace.
Context = Being justified by works
Galatians 5:2 – Look: I, Paul, say to you that if you accept circumcision, Christ will be of no advantage to you. 3 I testify again to every man who accepts circumcision that he is obligated to keep the whole law.
The person who relies on their own works to become righteous has stumbled or “fallen” from the mindset and perspective that by grace we are saved through faith. Therefore, the Lord has an immense amount of grace toward those who have “fallen away” from trusting in the free gift of holiness offered through Jesus’ death alone, because He desires that none would perish.
Psalm 145:14 – The LORD upholds all who are falling and raises up all who are bowed down.
Ephesians 2:8 – For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
