David’s Tent

Amos 9:11 – “In that day I will raise up the Booth of David that is fallen and repair its breaches, and raise up its ruins and rebuild it as in the days of old, 12 that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations who are called by My name,” declares the Lord who does this

The booth or tabernacle of David was setup in Jerusalem when David entered in to

rule the city. David’s tent ended or “fell” in Jerusalem after 33 years on the earth

1 Kings 2:11 – And the time that David reigned over Israel was forty years.

He reigned seven years in Hebron and thirty-three years in Jerusalem

The Lord says that there will be a Tabernacle from David that will be rebuilt, and once it’s raised all the nations of the gentiles will for the first time in history be able to come and seek the Lord without restriction. Since ancient times, the Lord has been speaking about the resurrection of this Tent and the redemption of the gentiles that will soon follow

Unfortunately, if you begin to study and research about the tabernacle of David from Amos 9:11, you will most likely hear something like this:

For the rest of our study, I will be trying to take our attention onto a much richer reality than what was said in the video above

So now watch what Jesus says to a half gentile woman about the near future in light of the coming events of His death and resurrection:

John 4:20 – Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship.”21 Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.”

John 2:19 – Jesus answered them, “Destroy This Temple, and in three days I will raise It up.” 20 The Jews then said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?” 21 But He was speaking about The Temple of His Body

So Jesus disregards the temple in Jerusalem and says that The True Temple worth recognizing, which is to be honored as more holy, is His Body

– Therefore the body is a metaphor for a temple, tent, tabernacle, or booth

2 Corinthians 5:1 – For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens

2 Corinthians 5:6 – We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord

1 Corinthians 6:19 – Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God?

So now after the cross and His resurrection, in Acts 15 there is a conference meeting happening with the apostles and religious leaders about how the gentiles are quickly coming into believing in Jesus, and they are all trying to figure out if the gentiles need to abide by the law or not

Acts 15:3 – So, being sent on their way by the church, they passed through both Phoenicia and Samaria, describing in detail the conversion of the gentiles, and brought great joy to all the brothers. 4 When they came to Jerusalem, they were welcomed by the church and the apostles and the elders, and they declared all that God had done with them. 5 But some believers who belonged to the party of the pharisees rose up and said, “It is necessary to circumcise them and to order them to keep the law of Moses.”

Acts 15:6 – The apostles and the elders were gathered together to consider this matter.

7 And after there had been much debate, Peter stood up and said to them, “Brothers, you know that in the early days God made a choice among you, that by my mouth the gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe. 8 And God, who knows the heart, bore witness to them, by giving them the Holy Spirit just as He did to us, 9 and He made no distinction between us and them, having cleansed their hearts by faith. 10 Now, therefore, why are you putting God to the test by placing a yoke on the neck of the disciples that neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear? 11 But we believe that we will be saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, just as they will.”

Acts 15:12 – And all the assembly fell silent, and they listened to Barnabas and Paul as they related what signs and wonders God had done through them among the gentiles. 13 After they finished speaking, James replied, “Brothers, listen to me. 14 Simeon {{{aka Peter}}} has related how God first visited the gentiles, to take from them a people for His name. 15 And with this the words of the prophets agree, just as it is written,

Acts 15:16 – After this I will return, and I will rebuild the Tent of David that

has fallen; I will rebuild its ruins, and I will restore it, 17 that the remnant of

mankind may seek the Lord, and all the Gentiles who are called by My

name, says the Lord, who makes these things 18 known from of old

This is absolutely monumental because James was saying that the fulfillment of Amos 9:11 has already been fulfilled through Jesus’ ministry work because the gentiles are now being converted. Therefore the gentiles have been able to come into the faith since Jesus’ death, which means that THE TABERNACLE OF DAVID HAS ALREADY BEEN RAISED

2 Corinthians 1:20 (NLT) – For ALL of God’s promises HAVE BEEN fulfilled in CHRIST with a resounding “Yes!”

Now let’s take a look at the moment Jesus died:

Mark 15:39 – And when the centurion, who stood facing Him, saw that in this way He breathed His last, he said, “Truly This Man was the Son of God!”

The first person after Jesus’ death to awaken to who Jesus is, was by none other than a gentile roman centurion, not a jew

John 1:11 – He came to His own {{{the jews}}}, and His own people did not receive Him

Amos 9:11 – “In that day I will raise up the Booth of David that is fallen and repair its breaches, and raise up its ruins and rebuild it as in the days of old, 12 that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations who are called by My name,” declares the Lord who does this

So here’s the deal:

Matthew 1:1 – The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David

Jesus is of or from David

Jesus, The Son of David, is The True Temple, The Tabernacle, and The Tent

that “fell” (crucified and buried) outside the city of Jerusalem after 33 years on the earth who was “rebuilt”, “repaired”, “restored”, and raised 3 days later. Shortly after, the gentiles came into the kingdom of God with unrestricted access through the power of the Holy Spirit which is the same story that the Lord has been prophesying this since the beginning

Let’s go back to the beginning when the Lord spoke to Abraham:

Genesis 22:17 – “I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your Offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your Offspring shall possess the gate of His enemies, 18 and in your Offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.”

Galatians 3:16 – Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his Offspring. It does not say, “And to offsprings,” referring to many, but referring to One, “And to your Offspring,” who is Christ

Jesus Himself is the direct fulfillment of Amos 9:11, not the Church. The Church is simply the result of Jesus’ accomplishments and labor. EVERY SINGLE PROMISE OF GOD IS FULFILLED BY JESUS, not us. These promises are not fulfilled through a “global worship movement” or a house of prayer in the “spirit of the tabernacle of David”, because if our houses of prayer ever fall or fail for any reason, God has still kept each and every one of His promises He finalized through His Beloved Son Jesus
